
A longtime resident of greater Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kumuena Tekasala attended the University of Manitoba and competed as a member of multiple regional indoor and outdoor club soccer teams. While working toward his master’s degree in occupational therapy, he performed a range of assessment, treatment, and client advocacy functions as part of the Inpatient Rehab Spinal Cord Team at Saskatoon City Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, as well as the Psych Health Centre of Winnipeg’s Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre and the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic of Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre. Kumuena Tekasala remained in Winnipeg after graduation to serve overlapping tenures with the Riverview Health Center and the River East Transcona School Division.
Mr. Tekasala is a former member of the Manitoba Society of Occupational Therapists and an active member of both the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba. Outside of the professional arena, he continues to play soccer at the recreational level and also stays active by hiking and biking.
